St. Thomas, ON – On Friday November 3, 2006 an office for Salvation Army Youth Counselling was finally opened in St. Thomas
Four years ago this counseling wasn’t even available and now the new office space will accommodate staff training, numerous programs and offices for the youth workers. During the past three years, The Salvation Army has increased its staff from half a youth worker to two full-time positions.
The Salvation Army deals with youth before, during and after they come in contact with the law and the objective is to encourage youth to make amends to their communities.
The unfortunate reality of society is that many youth are written off as ‘lost causes’ and because The Salvation Army believes that each individual is equally worthy, this new facility will allow the workers to continue to give hope each and every day.
Back in high school (8 yrs ago) I wasn’t the same person that I am today. I was caught for shoplifting but with the help of the salvation army was able to perform community service instead of receiving a criminal record. I’ve gone on to become a professional engineer and have a very successful career. I’ve always been grateful for my second chance, but never gave back to the salvation army (in a meaningful way). I would like to make a sizeable donation to the salvation army effort in st thomas, please send me details
