Galle, Sri Lanka – The 101 housing project funded at the Canadian Salvation Army funded at Galgodawatte in Ambalangoda, was ceremonially handed over to the beneficiaries on August 2.
The Chief Guest Calvin Piggott, a Representative of the Canadian High Commission, speaking at the ceremony said that they are pleased to support The Salvation Army and its global partners in providing over 500 houses, water and sanidatory facilities to the tsunami affected.
“I am very happy as this is the first lol of 101 houses built and handed over the tsunami victims. Another 399 houses will be bulit in December at Thiranagama in Hikkaduwa.”
Territorial Commander of The Salvation Army Lal Zamlova said that the Canadian Salvation Army supported the Sri Lanka Salvation Army and inter national partners in buliding the 101 new houses at a cost of Rs. 900 million.
Community Relations and Resources Development Director Simon Wong said that land has been selected to bulid another 399 house at Thiranagama in Hikkaduwa and Construction work will start next month.
